August is Craft Beer Month in Virginia

August is Craft Beer Month

Whether you are craving an IPA, wheat beer or stout, there are numerous places in the County that offer large selections of beer and some even have growler fills.

There is one craft brewery in James City County that opened in late October of 2017. Billsburg Brewery (Billsburg) is a destination brewery and event venue located at the James City County Marina. With rotating taps and several standard brews, Billsburg always has something new to try along with live music, local food trucks and events. We recommend the Good Vibes Radler, which is perfect for summer. Billsburg is conveniently located next door to destinations such as Jamestown Settlement, Historic Jamestowne, the Colonial Parkway, the Virginia Capital Trail, Jamestown Beach Event Park and the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry.

Alewerks Brewing Co., located in nearby York County, opened the L.A.B. Taproom at the Williamsburg Premium Outlets in September 2017. The L.A.B. Taproom allows shoppers to take a break and enjoy a refreshing brew. There are numerous beers on tap including select beers made onsite at the L.A.B. The L.A.B. Taproom offers growler fills and they have prepackaged beer available for purchase.

Busch Gardens Williamsburg celebrates Craft Beer Month with their annual Bier Fest, which begins Aug. 16. The World’s Most Beautiful Theme Park offers a variety of craft beers throughout their park and they even have a taproom in the Festhaus called the Brauhaus Craft Bier Room. Brauhaus has 30 taps with rotating beers including a number of Virginia craft beers.
