James City County offers year round sports classes, clinics, leagues and events for youth and adults. Sport classes and clinics cater to development and foundational skills and tournaments and leagues allow for competition and friendly play. Check out the complete list of year-round programs! Please contact us if you have questions or are interested in partnering to offer a camp, class or clinic. Registration closes 1 week before program start date.
Winter Sport Classes - Feb. 2, 2019
Registration for the following classes closes January 20.
The following winter classes will be held at Abram Frink Jr. Community Center. Classes run Feb. 2 - Mar. 16 (no class on Feb. 16).
- Quart’r Pint Soccer (ages 2-3 with parent)
- Half Pint Soccer (ages 4-5)
- Full Pint Soccer (ages 6-8)
- Multi Sport Minis (ages 3-5
The following winter classes will be held at the James City County Recreation Center. Classes run Feb. 2 - March 2 (no class on Feb. 16).
- Tot Shots Basketball (ages 3-5)
- Jump Shots Basketball (ages 6-8)
- Multi Sport Majors (ages 6-9)
Jr. NBA Skills Challenge - Feb. 9
This nationwide program is a fun way to lace up the basketball shoes and test your skills against other local players! The competition consists of a one minute timed drill and shots from multiple, pre-determined locations around the court. The top three participants in each age group are eligible to move on to the regional tournament and from there to an all-expense paid trip to the skills challenge championships! Aging date for each participant is their age on Aug. 31, 2019, not their current age. Preregistration is highly recommended as spaces are limited.
Half Century Senior Games - Ages 50+
Join us for James City County’s inaugural Senior Games! This event caters to adults aged 50 or better who enjoy staying active and a bit of competition. The Half Century Games can serve as a “warm up” for the Virginia Senior
Games that take place every year in May. Events include pickleball, biking, basketball and more! The event will be held March 23-24. More information on registration, locations and full event details will be available by January. 15.
Winter Break Camps
Winter Break Combo Camp (Dec. 20-21, 26-28)
Create a full day packed with sports over your winter break! This camp combines the One on One Winter Break Camp and the Multi Sport Winter Break Camp (see more information below). After basketball camp in the morning, try our multi sports sampler camp where you’ll play football, soccer, pickleball and many more! Pack a lunch, snacks and swimsuit for a full day of sports!
Multi Sport Winter Break Camp (Dec. 20-21, 26-28)
Why not play sports when school’s out? Kick it at the Recreation Center for this half day holiday sports sampler camp! Try out traditional and non-traditional sports including soccer, pickleball, badminton, football and more! Swim time included during this camp. A full day camp option is available if combined with the One on One Winter Break Basketball Camp for ages 9-12 (see above).
One on One Winter Break Camp (Dec. 20-21, 26-28)
Lace up your basketball shoes for this half day holiday basketball camp. This camp is taught through One on One Basketball, a nationwide program that caters to players of all ages and skill levels. Their philosophy is based on the belief that focused training is the best means through which a player can achieve significant and lasting improvement on the basketball court. A full day camp option is available (for ages 9-12) if combined with the Multi Sport Winter Break Camp (see above).
Spring Adult Coed Soccer
Sunday evening league for adults at the Warhill Sports Complex. Each team plays an 8-week regular season and the season culminates in a championship playoff match. Register under a captain’s household. Teams must verbally commit by February 15, 2019 by contacting Sarah at firstname.lastname@example.org or 757-259-5355. (Women ages 18+ and men ages 30+)
