While National Safety Month traditionally refers to protection against accidents, IPV (intimate partner violence) crimes are another important part of the conversation. Safety is the main component of IPV, DV (domestic violence) and SA (sexual assault) prevention strategies. Whether occurring in homes or workplaces, the prevalence of DV/SA within communities can be astounding. IPV/DV crimes are greatly reduced with increased familiarity with signs and safety strategies. During this month, please take some time to review the JCC AVAW webpages to learn more about IPV/DV/SA signs, prevention strategies, available resources and community efforts occurring right now.
