Want to work up an appetite for Thanksgiving? Run in the Big Turkey Burn 5K! Mettle Events continues its annual Thanksgiving Day 5K in New Town Williamsburg on Thursday, Nov. 23 from 8:30-11 a.m. The race includes t-shirts, finisher medals, local food and entertainment. Event proceeds will benefit R.L. Wilkinson Family YMCA. There will be a 1-mile kids' fun run, and a raffle of outstanding food and wine items will benefit local charities.

Explore centuries-old cooking techniques at Jamestown Settlement during the annual Foods and Feasts of Colonial Virginia. This event takes place Nov. 23-25. Discover how food was gathered, preserved and prepared on land and at sea by Virginia’s English colonists and Powhatan Indians. There are numerous programs throughout the day. The Jamestown Settlement Cafe will offer a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, offered on a first-come, first-served basis, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 23.

The Williamsburg Premium Outlets will have Thanksgiving swag bag giveaways from 6 p.m. until midnight on Thursday, Nov. 23. The first 500 shoppers to visit the Management Office near The North Face between Harry & David and Levi’s will receive a swag bag packed with discounts, festive treats and more. There will be $20 gift cards included in 20 bags.

Shopping and Related Events

The Williamsburg Premium Outlets will have special holiday hours from midnight until 10 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 24. Additional extended Black Friday weekend hours are 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25 and 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 26.

The WISC will offer a Black Friday “Drop N Shop” and Shuttle Service to the Williamsburg Premium Outlets from 6 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 24. Children ages 5-12 can be dropped off to enjoy fun in the aquatic center, laser tag, the indoor playground and indoor turf field. A breakfast buffet will be provided from 7-8:30 a.m. Two shuttle tickets are included per child. Cost is $30 for the first child and $25 for additional children. Shuttle only tickets may be purchased for $5. Shuttle will run every 30 minutes.

MillFarm Christmas Trees & Berry Farm will be open on Friday, Nov. 24 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. for Christmas tree shopping! There will also be fresh-cut Frazer Firs. MillFarm is open every weekend through Christmas until 5 p.m.

Yarn Matters will offer a $5 gift card for every $50 spent on Saturday, Nov. 25.

Life is Good Williamsburg will offer 30% off of accessories, fleece and plaid on Saturday, Nov. 25. A free small business canvas bag will be offered with each purchase, purchases over $75 will receive a Life is Good mason jar and purchases $150 or more will receive a free Alex and Ani bracelet. All giveaways are while supplies last.

Chicadee’s will have their 10th annual holiday open house on Sunday, Nov. 26 from noon until 4 p.m. Everything will be on sale for four hours. Additional discounts include 10% off of $25, 15% off of $26-50 and 20% off of $50 or more.

Other Activities

Enjoy Caroloke and Cocoa in New Town Williamsburg on Fridays from Nov. 24 through Dec. 15 from 6-8 p.m. $5 per person to enter the caroloke contest. There are three categories: 17 and under, 18 and over, groups of four or more. Cocoa is free!

Busch Gardens® Christmas Town™ opens on Friday, Nov. 24 and is open on select days through Jan. 1, 2018. Experience the largest light display in North America along with festive food and drink, wonderful shows including ‘Twas that Night at the Royal Palace Theatre and a visit to Santa’s new North Pole workshop. Kids Day Out Holiday Crafting will take place on Saturday, Nov. 25 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. for children aged 6-12 at Artfully Yours Studio. Fee is $30 for the first child and $25 for additional siblings. Children will be crafting holiday themed ornaments, holiday cards and printing wrapping paper. A variety of mediums and tools will be used (age appropriate) to create and craft. A pizza lunch, beverages and snacks will be provided.

After a morning of shopping or as an alternative to the crowds, get your holiday season started with a free marathon of family-friendly versions of everyone’s favorite, “A Christmas Carol” at the James City County Library on Saturday, Nov. 25 beginning at 11 a.m. Bring your own cushy chairs, put a blanket on the floor or sit in one of ours. We’ll have some popcorn popping, but you can bring your own food and drink to the party. We have four classics on tap that will entertain young and old: Mr. Magoo’s Christmas Carol (11 a.m.), The Muppet Christmas Carol (noon), Mickey’s Christmas Carol (1:30 p.m.), and Disney’s A Christmas Carol (3 p.m.). Drop in for your favorite or compare all four!

The Comedy Club of Williamsburg presents “Thanksgiving – Laugh It Off” with Dylan Vattelana, Kenny Wingle and Von Michaels on Saturday, Nov. 25 at 8 p.m. Vattelana and Wingle are both native Virginians.
